Antonina Baever

Resident

Antonina Baever is an artist who was active on the Moscow art scene for over the past ten years. They had been observing the cracks in the status quo of the local art system in relation to the domestic and foreign political situation of the country. At present, Antonina is researching the unrealized project of contemporary art in the post-perestroika era in Russia (1991-2022). During their residency, they will focus on their autofiction writings which are to be presented as performative readings with the elements of stand-up comedy.

Antonina Baever, also known as Genda Fluid, had to leave Russia shortly after its government invaded Ukraine. They are currently based nowhere, drifting around Europe. They studied at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts and at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. Their work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, BOZAR, Brussels, Bergen Triennale, among others. They previously concluded residencies at Akademie der Künste der Welt in Cologne, Sommerakademie Paul Klee in Bern, and ID_Tanzhaus in Frankfurt.
